Have attached a little selection of pics from the Wellington 75th anniversary event held at the Brooklands Museum on 15th June.

Wing Commander Ken Wallis MBE was the 'star' and had some terrific tales of exploits in the bomber . Several ex-Wellington aircrew say, including Bob Hughes, that if it weren't for the strength of the Wellington, they wouldn't be here today. The veterans were a mix of RAF aircrew and the Vickers workers who actually built the planes.

'R' for Robert is the restored Wellington at Brooklands - this was 'fished' out of Loch Ness and it has an amazing operational record. A rather good flying scale model of a Wellington was started up and trundled around - it wasn't possible to fly it due to the proximity of buildings etc.

Included a picture of part of the old banked racetrack - lots of it has been obliterated due to re-developments, but sections survive to give a feel for those old glory days of motor racing. Attached are a  couple of shots of the one at Brooklands. They do a 'flight experience' on the Concorde.

It's ironic that during the Battle of Britain the Luftwaffe tried to destroy the aircraft factories at Brooklands and today you can find slap-bang in the middle of this once great centre of historic British motor racing and aviation, a complex called 'Mercedes Benz World' - who won the war?
